Worry Monster

Hello!

Both classes will be taking turns to take a Worry Monster home in the next few weeks. These are to be returned the next day. Below is a description of what the Worry Monster does ☺

This is a Worry Monster, who loves to munch on worries. This monster is not scared of anything and will munch up the biggest and smallest of worries every time.

1.    You can tell your monster your worries or you can write or draw a picture of something that worries you.

2.  Place your worry inside the Worry Monster’s mouth and zip it closed. Forget about your worries as the monster will eat them all up.

3.  Go to bed and sleep soundly.

4.  In the morning your worries will be gone. 

Have you ever felt a funny,

Knot inside your tummy?

It wriggles, squirms and slides,

And fills your mind with worry.

It’s just a message from deep within,

To say ‘Hey, You really need to listen’,

Your mind and body need to pause,

To investigate and understand the cause.

So take a moment to yourself,

A deep breath and rest is guaranteed to help.

It’s important to get it off your chest,

Talking and writing it down works the best.

Weekly Homework 11/02/2019

Hi all, 

Happy Monday! 

The homework is slightly different this week but nothing major.

Here it is: 

1. Sound and Tricky Word Worksheet - Our new and final sound for the week as well as the year is 'q' or 'qu'. This can be a challenging sound to teach as the letter 'q' is usually followed by the letter 'u' so we tend to teach them together and tell the children that 'q' and 'u' stick like glue! 
Take a look at this song to help learn the 'q'/'qu' sound! 

Please colour in the pictures and practice the sound and letter formation with them throughout the week. 

2. Read and Draw - The children will read the sentence on the page and then draw a picture to match what they have read. 

3. Sounds Booklet - Our sound this week is 'qu' (p. 32). Please complete this page by Friday. Also, please try to do this page only (pages 32).

Today we learned all about the 'q'/'qu' sound. 

Take a look at our song and picture for the 'q'/'qu' sound. Try to find items in the picture and around the house that start with 'q'/'qu'. 

Use your magic eyes to find some 'qu' objects in the pictures below!

4. Tricky words and Tricky Word Game - Our tricky word this week is some. Try and think about all the sentences we say every day using the word 'some'! There is also a new tricky word 'roll and read' game which will be very beneficial when practicing these words. 

Homework will be collected on Friday morning so please ensure the folders are in their bags for collection on Friday.

Hope you all had a nice weekend! Here is the homework for this week: 

1. Sound and Tricky Word Worksheet - Our new sounds for the week are 'w' and 'z'.

Please colour in the pictures and practice the sounds and letter formations with them throughout the week. 

2. Sounds Booklet - Our sounds this week are 'w' (p. 26 ) and 'z' (p. 27). Please complete both pages by Friday. Also, please try to do these two pages only (pages 26 and 27)

Today we learned all about the 'w' sound. 

Take a look at our song and picture for the 'w' sound. Try to find items in the picture and around the house that start with 'w'. 

We will be learning the sound 'z' later on in the week.

4.  Oral Language Page: Outer Space - The children will be learning all about Outer Space over the next two weeks. Take a look at the page about 'Outer Space' and have a chat about the words and the picture.
