We had lots of fun in November! Our Aistear themes were the Post Office and the Train Station. We learnt how to send letter, how a sorting office works and had a visit from a real postman! We also took turns being train drivers, conductors and passengers. In November we started our new maths stations "Ready, Set, Go Maths" and had lots of fun playing maths games. We also had Science week this month and got to try out lots of exciting experiments and learn how to code using iPads.
Hi everyone, This week is a revision week. We are enclosing a new laminated Jolly Phonics sound wall. Please look after these and keep for revising and learning new sounds 1. Phonics Revision Work The children will be revising all the initial sounds for the next two weeks: s,a,t,i,p,n,c,k,e,h,r,m,d,g,o,u,l,f,b. They will also be working on blending e.g. s-a-t, p-i-n. The aim for this weeks homework is to complete revision pages 37, 38 and 39 in Sounds Like Phonics. The children should also practice saying and blending their sounds using the sound flashcards in their folders (the coloured cards).
2. Tricky Words Revision Game Please ensure to practice tricky words daily We have been learning a lot of tricky words since September. In the homework folder you will find a Snakes and Ladders Tricky Word game which is played the same way as 'normal' snakes and ladders, only that whatever box you land on, the player has to read the tricky word in this box. Playing games like this even once a night will really help the children's learning and retention of these words. We will be revising these in school as well.
3. Oral Language Sheet - The Construction Site The children will be learning all about The Construction Site over the next fortnight. Use the picture and questions to discuss what happens on a construction site as well as different types of homes and houses in your area.
Hi all, We are learning all about the construction site in Aistear over the next fortnight. I'm looking for any cardboard boxes, shoeboxes etc that could be used as large bricks or materials for building. We are also short on hard hats so if anyone has any at home that they would be willing to send in that would be a big help. Just write your name on the inside or attach a label so you get the correct hat back. If any parent works in construction and would be interested in coming in and talking to the children a bit about their job, show some tools and images of their construction site, that would be brilliant! Thanks! Sarah
We hope you all had a wonderful Winter Break and a very happy new year. Here's to a fantastic 2020!
We had some printing issues today so we have not given out homework folders. Hopefully the printer will be back in action tomorrow. The homework below is for the week so try to get as much of it done as possible between Tuesday and Thursday. Not all homework folders have been returned - can parents ensure all folders are in school tomorrow so the children receive their homework.

Hi Everyone, We hope you enjoyed a Snowman at Sunset! Myself and Sarah were so proud of all the children and thank you kindly for helping out with lines and costumes. Just a reminder sometimes Sarah and I might be ahead of one another on sounds so always follow the blog for homework.
