Hi everyone and welcome back to Term 2!
We hope you all had a wonderful Winter Break and a very happy new year. Here's to a fantastic 2019!
The children have been given homework for the week but please ease yourselves into it and see how it all goes.
Here's the homework for the week:
1. Revision Worksheet
The children will be revising all the initial sounds for the next two weeks.
The aim for this weeks worksheet is to colour in the correct initial sound to match the picture.
2. Blending/Reading Page - Word Families
The children will be learning about Word Families over the next while. Word families are words that have similar endings. (Eg, _at word family: cat, hat, mat etc)
The Word Families that we will be learning this week are '_at' and '_ap'. You will see examples of these on the reading sheet in the folder.
To read these words, continue with the blending methods such as tapping the sounds out on the table or your arm and then joining the sounds together.
3. Tricky Words Revision Game
We have been learning a lot of tricky words since September and the children are doing very well with these.
In the homework folder you will find a Snakes and Ladders Tricky Word game which is played the same way as 'normal' snakes and ladders, only that whatever box you land on, the player has to read the tricky word in this box.
Playing games like this even once a night will really help the children's learning and retention of these words.
4. Oral Language Sheet - The Construction Site
The children will be learning all about The Construction Site over the next fortnight. Use the picture and questions to discuss what happens on a construction site as well as different types of homes and houses in your area.
As always, any issues or problems with the homework, please let Jessica (belmayneetjessica@gmail.com) or Maria (belmayneetmarial@gmail.com) know and we can adapt and change as necessary.
